5 Things You Should Ask Your Wedding Photographer
19 Sep, 2016
Choosing a wedding photographer is one of the most important decisions you’ll make during the planning process. Although the big day may pass by in a flash, snapshots of the memories you made will last forever. It’s essential to choose a photographer who fits your style as a couple. Not only will you rely on their talent and professionalism, but you will also be spending a lot of time with your photography team on one of the most important days of your life. Choose wisely! When you meet with your wedding photographer, there are many important questions you should ask. Here are ten things you should plan to discuss:
1. What is your style?
From editorial style to photojournalistic, all photographers have a primary style. You can see examples of this in their portfolio, but it’s important to discuss the style of photography you prefer to make sure it is a good match.
2. What happens if the main photographer cannot make it?
In case of an unexpected situation, like an illness or an emergency, there is a chance your photographer will not be able to photograph your wedding day. It is imperative to be aware of the plan that is in place if this situation should arise.
3. How many shooters will there be?
Depending on the package you select, the photography team includes a main photographer and one or two assistants. Many times, one photographer cannot supply sufficient coverage to capture all the important moments during the ceremony and reception. Make sure you are clear on how many shooters will be coming with your photographer on the day of your wedding.
4. Will all of my images be color-corrected?
You should expect all of your images to be color-corrected before you see them. This does not mean they will be cosmetically retouched, but correcting the color of the images is an important part of the post production process that should be included in your package. Many photographers will color-correct only a specific number of images. This is something you should know, so there are no surprises when you receive your photos. If you are skilled in photo editing or have a friend or family member that can do this for you, your photographer might offer a less-expensive package for photos that are not corrected.
5. Do you back up the images from our wedding day?
There is nothing more tragic than losing your wedding photos because of a digital glitch or the lack of a backup plan. Discuss the possibility of this with your photographer. Ask them what equipment they use and what plan is in place to make sure your images are as safe as possible.
