Five Tips for Choosing the Perfect Bouquet
15 May, 2017
Let’s talk about arguably one of the most important wedding details there is - “the bouquet. This vibrant arrangement can be so challenging to choose, but the good thing is, it doesn’t have to be!
Think of the bouquet as a small emblem of the enduring journey of the love experienced in your relationship, and the special path you have taken to make this love permanent. Based on that, a bouquet should be once in a lifetime, rare, and genuine. It’s not simply a bunch of flowers, but a token of devotion. Here are our tips for choosing the perfect bouquet!
1. Think Big Picture
Before you make any appointment with your florist, make an appointment to get your wedding dress. It’s absolutely essential to think “big picture.” The last thing you want is for your bouquet to have an unfitting color scheme and look nothing like what you imagined. The bouquet is made to compliment you! The design of your bouquet depends on the style and detail of your dress. The bouquet is meant to flow with you and add to the overall look. The bouquet should never create an unbalanced line, or overwhelm your attire.
2. In Season?
Don’t plan for the present, think wedding day! It’s crucial to always remember that what’s in season now will not be in season five months from now. Availability on specific flowers will no longer be available, or might soar in price. Discuss flower options with your florist and see how to best incorporate your desired choices. Always think and plan ahead!
3. Make it Yours
Your bouquet is not just made up of flowers. It’s a representation of a special journey that two people have taken. The bouquet is personal and reflects importance. Try incorporating flowers that have personal meaning to your relationship, or family. Any antique brooch, family heirloom, or even something old, adds a magical feature to your bouquet. Walk into your future with a little something from your past.
4. Take the Step
Remember to breath and relax when you walk down the aisle (I know, easy to say right)? Often brides want to hold the bouquet firmly with two hands, which brings the shoulders up and scrunches up the body up. Have one of your bridesmaids help you with this one. Focus on gently holding the bouquet with one hand below your hip and slightly away from your dress. This will help bring down your shoulders, and make you look effortless on your walk down the aisle.
5. Comfort is Key
You want your bouquet to be as comfortable as possible. Holding the bouquet should never be awkward or confining. The bouquet will be in your hands most of the day and in many photos. So remember, the bouquet should never make you hunch your shoulders, or lean to the side. Check to make sure the bouquet holder is easy to grip and easy on your hands.
