Top 2016 Wedding Trends
12 Sep, 2016
From popular color palettes to the hottest wedding dress styles, trends for weddings are constantly changing. Every year, we look to the wedding industry to tell us what’s hot and what’s not for the exciting season of “I do.” Take a look at some common trends from this year.
Going Beyond the Black Tuxedo
The classic black and white tux is getting a makeover this season. Many grooms are going a different route for their big day. Think grey and navy blue. Many are ditching the bow tie for a patterned tie. The lighter colors are especially appropriate for outdoor or cocktail weddings.
Minimalism
Overall, “less is more” is a common theme for 2016 weddings. Everything, including bridal style, bridesmaid dresses, bouquets, and table décor are more toned down and simplistic. This is a refreshing shift that results in a clean, timeless, and fresh look.
Greenery
We’re seeing a lot of green this wedding season! Many brides are ditching the traditional florals and going with lush greens instead. Ceremonies and receptions are looking beautifully organic, especially when the greenery is paired with all white décor and romantic candlelight…so perfect! This might also be a great way to reduce your budget for flowers, since greens are often less expensive.
Casual Comfort Food
Who needs fancy food when you can have burgers and French fries? Comfort food is definitely a popular trend for 2016. Guests love munching on sliders, tacos, donuts, and even hot dogs when in black tie attire. This can be a fun way to share your favorite comfort food with your guests while guaranteeing that no one will make a drive-thru run after your wedding.
Metallics
Gold, silver, rose gold, and copper are all over 2016 weddings! We’re seeing much more rose gold and copper in comparison to last year, but all metallic details are on-trend for the year! Think rose gold details on table numbers, chargers, chairs, vases, and even the cake. The metallic details instantly give the event a luxurious feel.
