2013 Wedding Trends
25 Mar, 2013
2013 is all about treating your guests to an amazing time while making your wedding memorable. Here are a few trends that are sure to keep your guests talking about your wedding months after you say your I do’s.
A Lounge Area: If your venue has an outdoor patio area or even an inside cocktail area liven it up by renting a few pieces of lounge style furniture. Set the mood with candles and bottles of wine or champagne on ice to give your guests the VIP treatment.
Mix up Your Tables: Use some long banquet tables and some round tables for dining to add dimension to your wedding set up. This is especially helpful if you’re on a budget. A long banquet table usually calls for smaller, narrow centerpieces and looks amazing with a runner rather than a full sized linen overlay.
Lace and Patterns: Add a special touch to your décor by incorporating linens with different textures and patterns. Use a lace overlay or runner to soften the look of your tables.
Chiavari Chairs: While chair covers with a beautiful sash tied around the back are classic, the chiavari chair is everywhere right now. Regardless of the color, chiavari chairs seem to add a timeless elegance to any style wedding.
Paper Lanterns: If you are looking to add a splash of color or some extra décor inside or out, paper lanterns are easy, inexpensive and fun. Hang them from trees, over a patio, over the dance floor or even over guest tables.
Mason Jars: Need centerpieces on a budget? Use mason jars filled with wild flowers for a rustic style table setting; so easy and so reusable. You can also use small mason jars with a tea light candle inside to accent cocktail tables or illuminate the isle for your ceremony. Use mason jars filled with old fashioned candy for that “vintage” candy buffet.
A Fun Sweets and Treat Buffet: While a beautifully displayed candy buffet is still quite popular why not cover all your sweet and savory bases at once. In addition to candy give your guests the ultimate snack buffet with pastries, chocolate covered strawberries, mini cakes, cookies, brownies, donuts and more! Do not forget the savory snacks like the bride and grooms favorite chips, popcorn, pretzels and crackers. Your guests will love seeing their favorite childhood snacks on your treats table like goldfish crackers or crackerjacks. Pick a theme or color for these treats and run with it.
A “Midnight” Snack: We have all had the munchies right?! After a long night of dancing, drinking and having the time of their lives your guests may be ready for a little snack. Bring out another round of butler passed goodies late in the wedding as an unexpected treat for your guests. If it really is post midnight you can even make the snack breakfast themed. There is nothing like a breakfast burrito at 1am!
A Photo Booth: Besides cocktails and Hors d’ Oeuvres, give your guests something fun to do during your cocktail hour. This can double as your wedding favor for your guests to take home and your sign in book so you can always remember how much fun you had with your guests. One copy can go into a scrap book that your guests can sign at the wedding. Make sure your photo booth has a lot of fun props that really reflect who you are as a couple.
