Five Must-Dos for Your Wedding Day

Jamie McGregor

Because of the amount of planning involved, it can be easy to overlook some of the details that go into creating your dream day. Below are some tips and advice for important ones to remember.

Microphone

The importance of a microphone during your ceremony cannot be underestimated. Even if you and your fiancé are shy, you’ll want to make sure family and friends are able to celebrate your love by sharing in your big day. If you’re thinking about going mic-less, I’d urge you to reconsider. Years from now when your family watches video from your big day, you’ll be glad you did.

Add Some Fun

Having fun activities on hand—especially ones that are interactive—will help guests remember your wedding for years to come. Some popular ones at the moment are having an ice cream sundae station; a chocolate fountain; fire pit with s'mores; a photo booth; cigar roller, and hookah lounge. Don’t be afraid to get creative!

Spend Time Alone as a Couple

While it’s important to share the day with your family and guests, it’s also a good idea to steal a few moments alone with your significant other. Share a snack, go for a walk, or enjoy the sunset and ocean view. Chances are these special moments shared in private will provide some of the best memories from your wedding day.

Incorporate Personal Favorites

This is your big day, why not tell your story in the details? Are you surfers? Wear flip-flops. Are you a country girl? Wear cowboy boots. Love pink? Make it all pink! Did you and your sweetie attend the same college? Hire the marching band for your grand entrance. Whatever your thing is, share it!

Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff

It’s important to know that, preparation aside, there’ll always be something that deviates from your plan—and it’s equally important to realize that more than likely, you’ll be the only person who notices. Guests won’t care if the table linen was one shade lighter than the napkins, or if your grand entrance was delayed by five minutes. What they will remember is how happy the both of you looked
