Five Tips for Unique Wedding Receptions
22 Jul, 2012
One of the best ways to have a memorable wedding reception is to make sure it’s not only unique, but also equally suitable to both you and your fiancé. Brainstorming on activities the two of you enjoy, the type of music you like, and your personal style, will help create a vision for your wedding that’ll make you both proud. Early in the planning stages, consider the below tips for creating a day as unique as it is a testament to your partnership!
Find the Ideal Wedding Location
Scout your locale for unique wedding reception ideas such as popular restaurants, city roof gardens, old nightclubs, historic mansions, and art galleries. You might even consider renting out a generic building and creating your own special setting.
Create a Theme
Themed receptions are a great way to make your event stand out. One idea is to ask guests to wear costumes from a time period or favorite film. Another possibility is having guests come dressed as characters from a mystery novel; scatter clues for them to puzzle over and eventually solve.
Make it a Memorable Night
More than likely, some guests will be coming in from out of town. Make your reception a special event by treating them to something unique to your town. For example, if your town is known for its chili, include it on the menu. If you live in a tourist town, consider having the reception at one of the hot spots.
Provide Entertainment
You can hire professional dancers to perform and entertain the guests while they eat. Singing waiters are sure to be a crowd pleaser. Another option is to hire a stand-up comedian. You could really make it a memorable occasion by asking the comedian to create material especially for your reception. Tell the comedian a little bit about you and your future spouse to help him or her create relevant jokes.
Hire a Caricature Artist
A caricature artist adds a unique experience to a wedding reception. Guests can stand in line to have individual or family caricatures drawn, and the artist can also draw everyone as they dance and socialize—gift them later as a party favor!
